Professor Allais works primarily in Kant, especially his transcendental idealism, along with various ethical issues concerning forgiveness and punishment. Recently she has also done some work in bio-ethics and the nature of consent. We Kant wait to see you there!
This Friday, Friday the 13th, will be our Movie Night. We’ll be watching Ship of Theseus (2012), discussing ethical dilemmas, and eating pizza. Join the fun at 6pm in HSS 7077!
PhilDisc is set to pick up again this coming Wednesday! Meetings will now be on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-2pm in the same place – HSS 8025. Feedback sessions will still be featured every other Wednesday, so come bring your suggestions!

Professor Vargas’ work looks at ethical questions concerning agency, sociality, and moral psychology, and he also has a significant interest in Mexican Philosophy. Next quarter he will be teaching the inaugural session of PHIL 155 – Mexican Philosophy. Come to learn more!
Tomorrow will be PhilDisc’s first meeting of the quarter! Meetings will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 4-5pm in the Department Library (HSS 8025 – take the elevator all the way to the top and turn right!). Bring a friend and join us for some great philosophical conversations!
This quarter, PhilDisc will feature a new feedback session. On alternating Wednesdays (the first will be this Wednesday, the 17th), PhilClub officers will be available at the start of the meeting for questions and suggestions.

We have two exciting events coming up – a Movie Night this coming Thursday and the inauguration of a new event: QPD (Quarterly Philosophical Discussion)!
Movie Night: Free food and movie! Come join us for a movie night in the philosophy department Seminar Room, HSS 7077 at 5pm! If anyone is interested, we’ll also be holding a discussion afterwards to talk about some philosophical topics pertinent to the movie. Everyone is welcome! 18 January – save the date! QPD: UCSD Philosophy Club will be hosting our first QPD (Quarterly Philosophy Discussion) this Winter Quarter. The topic of QPD will be decided by a poll. The topics are basic income, self driving cars, white supremacy, and organ donation. The poll will be closed on 26 January, and relevant philosophy papers will be posted on the UCSD Phil Club website. We will be meeting to discuss the selected topic on Thursday, 1 March at 5pm in the Seminar Room, H&SS 7077– refreshments will be provided.
